Parent Requirements: |
Married couples and single women may adopt. Couples must be in the age range of 25-52, and singles can be ages 30-52. Kyrgyzstan has indicated that there should be no more than 45 years age difference between parents and adoptive children. Prior divorce and other children in the home are acceptable. Kyrgyzstan requires proof of the adoptive parents’ health status and financial ability to provide a suitable environment for the child. |
| Available Children: | Currently boys and girls are available. Kyrgyzstan does allow sibling adoptions; however, sibling groups tend to be among the older children. We have also received approval for parents interested in adopting two unrelated children. . Some children are Asian in appearance; some will be of mixed Asian/Caucasian or Caucasian features. In Kyrgyzstan, it is actually quicker to adopt a child age 3-24 months, as families wanting an older child tend to wait longer. | |
| Adoption Timetable: | The wait for a referral is typically 3-10 months after your paperwork is submitted and approved in Kyrgyzstan. Parents can travel on first trip within 2-3 months of dossier submission. | |
| Method of Referral: | Referral of a child will include photos and medical information. | |
| Travel Requirements: | Adoption from Kyrgyzstan can possibly be done in one trip. If so, it will be approximately 7 business days. In some cases, the officials in Kyrgyzstan may ask parents to make two trips, particularly if it is adoption of a special needs child. In this case, then the first trip is approximately 5 days of visiting with your child. Then parents return home for approximately 6-8 weeks. The second trip only one parent is required to return to Kyrgyzstan to bring the child home. The second trip is approximately 7 business days. | |
